Ernestina Eduful, a dietician at Nutridi has revealed that people who skip breakfast for some time are likely to have an increased risk of Coronary Heart Disease, that is blood sugar and cholesterol levels increase causing the blockages of the arteries.
The Dietician made the point on the GBC Breakfast Show.
Breakfast is the first meal of the day eaten after waking from the night’s sleep, in the morning. The word in English refers to breaking the fasting period of the previous night.
Ernestina Eduful explained that breakfast should be taken two hours after one has woken up because it helps become a habit once it has been done for over a week and again prevents a delay in eating breakfast and dinner to avoid developing high cholesterol and arteries being blocked.
Explaining if irregular eating can make one fat, she said “people who do not eat breakfast have difficulties in being full or satisfied that is satiety, for that matter, they crave for snacks that are sugary and have fat in them which increases the calories leading to being overweight or obese”.
Ernestina Eduful concluded by describing that it is okay to eat “heavy meals” in the morning provided it is balanced, that is carbohydrates, vegetables and proteins.
