Violet is a young Ghanaian entrepreneur, the Founder and CEO of Skin Gourmet limited – dealers in RAW handmade high-quality skincare sourced from the Wilds of Ghana.
She is a high energy super hopeful entrepreneur who has always been passionate about people and has attained Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Business administration - specializing in marketing, supply chain management and accounting.
She created Skin Gourmet in 2014 with only GHS 145 (USD 45.00), which is now distributed in over 17 different countries. She has been featured in Glitz and EMY Magazine as an emerging industry leader. Skin Gourmet has been featured in Forbes, Elle, Pop Sugar, and Indian Cosmopolitan for an Editor’s Best Product Pick Award. She is now competing in the Africa’s Business Heroes (ABH), a flagship philanthropic programme for the Jack Ma Foundation for a chance to with a share of the USD 1.5 million prize pool, and she was recently selected among the Top 20 outstanding African entrepreneurs.
Violet and the rest of the ABH 2021 Top 20 entrepreneurs are currently undergoing further rounds of selection whereafter the Top 10 will be selected and announced later this Fall. These will be headed to the grand finale where they will each pitch their business ideas live to global business legends in November to determine who takes what share of the USD 1.5 million prize pool.
This grant opportunity is good news to many startups and upcoming entrepreneurs across Ghana who also have a chance of applying in 7 other upcoming editions (2022 up to 2028) especially at time when many startups are in a constant struggle due to limited funding accelerated by the pandemic.
This year's ABH Top 20 entrepreneurs represent 11 African countries, including Nigeria (4), Kenya (3), Uganda (3), South Africa (2), Egypt (2), Ghana (1), Botswana (1), Rwanda (1), Tanzania (1), Cote d'Ivoire (1), and Togo (1). This years’s ABH Top 20 has 45% of female representation, and there is an enormous diversity in the type of businesses the entrepreneurs are doing, with 16 sectors represented including agriculture, beauty & wellness, construction, consulting, education, energy, environmental protection, financial services, Food & Beverages, healthcare, ICT, logistics, manufacturing, media & entertainment, retail, and transportation.
