The Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG) has presented a cheque for GH¢10,000.00 to the Ghana Health Service (GHS) to help in the fight against the COVID-19.
Madam Abena Adubea Amoah, the Executive Director, PPAG presenting the cheque, said the association had been working with the GHS since 1967 in the area of reproductive health, education and provision of services, hence, the need to extend their support towards efforts at containing and preventing the spread of the virus.
"With GHS being a partner and leading the fight against the spread of disease, we thought it prudent to provide some minimal support for them to do their work well", she added.
She invited other corporate organisations to find space to assist improve the country's health care system for sustainable development.
Madam Amoah underlined the need to prioritize sexual reproductive health and rights even as the fight against the contagious respiratory disease captured global attention.
The Association, she said, had been working with stakeholders to provide family planning services, gender-based violence, and unsafe abortion education to especially, women and the vulnerable in society.
Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboakye, Director General of GHS commended the association for the gesture and pledged that the money would be used for its intended purpose.
