The Awutu-Senya District Health Directorate has applauded Plan International-Ghana for supporting it with sanitary items to stem the spread of COVID-19 in the area.
Dr. Mrs. Patricia Antwi, Awutu-Senya District Health Director and also a member of the COVID-19 logistics and response team in the District commended the Organisation when it presented the items on Wednesday.
They included liquid soap, hand sanitizers, aqua tablets and handwashing facilities.
The District Director assured that the items will be used for the intended purpose and appealed for Personal Protection Equipment (PPEs) for frontline staff.
She called on cooperate bodies and philanthropists to donate PPEs such as, nose masks, face shields, goggles, hand gloves (examination and surgical) and disinfectants for frontline health workers, to protect them from contracting the deadly disease.
Mr. Alfred Dzikunoo, Acting Central Regional Programme/Area Manager of PLAN who made the presentation, said the items were to support government's efforts in the fight against the pandemic.
He stated that COVID-19, was real and urged the directorate to intensify sensitization programmes to encourage people living in the District to adhere to the prescribed protocols and regulations to safeguard themselves.
The items were later distributed to Awutu Health Center, Bawjiase Polyclinic, Chohoe, Ahentia, Bontrase, Mfadaa, Kwabong, Aberefo, Adwukwao, Ayensu, Papaase, Fianko, Okwampa, Mayenda and Bewunum Community based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) Compounds as well as Bontrase and Bawjiase markets.
Present at the ceremony were members of the District COVID-19 Logistics and response team.
