Guaranty Trust Bank (Ghana) Ltd, (GTBank) has commissioned a state-of-the-art ICT Centre for the Anunmle Cluster of Schools located at Kisseman in Accra.
The 40-seater refurbished and fully equipped facility, funded by the bank, replaces the previously dilapidated structure that served the entire cluster – consisting of 4 schools with a pupil population of over 1,300.
Speaking at the launch of the facility, Richard Ahiagble, Group Head of Corporate Affairs, GTBank indicated that the gesture was part of the bank’s commitment to equip young people with ICT skills in line with its focus on education.
He said “At GTBank we believe every child is born with an inherent potential to be the best version of themselves – given the right education, support system and opportunity to thrive.
As a Bank reputed for innovation and leadership in the digital space, we are fully aware of the critical role ICT plays in preparing young people for a digital future. That is why we have committed to shape the lives of our future leaders by investing in ICT centers for schools in deprived communities across the country”
He continued “It is our hope that this facility will contribute to effective teaching and learning within the Anunmle Cluster of Schools and one day when we read about some of the great innovators and scholars from this school making our world a better place, a part of that can be ascribed to this intervention by GTBank”.
The Okaikwe North Municipal Director of Education, Cynthia Aboni praised GTBank for transforming the ICT center. She said “we are eternally grateful to GTBank for choosing to invest in the lives of our pupils in this significant way. This intervention demonstrates your commitment to supporting education in Ghana and is worthy of emulation by other corporate bodies”.
The Headmaster of the Anunmle Basic school, speaking on behalf of all heads of schools within the cluster thanked GTBank for “changing the story of Anunmle Cluster of Schools and providing an ICT Center of Excellence within the community. Previously, we were compelled to teach ICT with no practical component but that will all change now. With this facility, we will be able to better equip these children for the future. Thank you GTBank”.
GTBank continues to invest in community projects in education and health to enrich the lives of Ghanaians. Last year, employees of the Bank donated books and school supplies to the Anunmle Cluster of Schools as part of the bank’s employee giving programme, Touching Lives.
