MBA Safety Ghana Limited in partnership with the Ghana National Fire Service has launched an initiative dubbed 'One Facility One Fire Extinguisher (1F1FE)' project at the Achimota New Station.
The initiative seeks to sensitise Ghanaians on the need to have fire extinguishers in their facilities, including houses, vehicles and offices among others.
There was also a safety equipment exhibition that saw drivers, traders and commuters at the station taken through basic fire safety tips and control.
Mr Benjamin Quarshie, Fire Officer at Abelemkpe Fire Station, advised traders, especially food vendors at the station, to ensure that they completely put out all fires before leaving for home, adding that, they had to make sure their gas cylinders were not leaking.
He said there was less fire outbreaks at markets this year as compared to previous years, and called for more education on fire outbreaks.
He called on the public to be careful in using fire, saying "Fire is a good servant, but can also be a bad master."

He said the 1F1FE campaign is aimed at creating awareness on the safe use of fire and the need for facilities to have installed fire extinguishers, adding that, this would equip the public to be able to fight fires at all times.
Mr Dzane said the initiative would be done throughout the sixteen regions of the country in markets, churches, mosques, organisations, among others, to sensitise the public on fire safety procedures.
He said as part of the 1F1FE initiative, MBA Safety Ghana Limited was providing facilities with installed fire extinguishers at affordable prices.
Nana Asamoah, a bus driver, said he was happy they had been taken through education on how to prevent fire outbreaks, adding that, there should be more of such education for drivers and the general public as whole.
He called on his colleague drivers to get fire extinguishers in their vehicles for their own safety and that of their vehicles.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service took the public through ways of putting out fire with an extinguisher.
