Mr. Kwasi Amoako Atta, Minister for Roads and Highways has cautioned against the burning of lorry tyres during demonstrations on roads in the country.
He said the burning of lorry tyres caused the deterioration of roads and called for decorum during demonstrations.
"Citizens have right to express their displeasure and one way was through demonstration, but I want to caution them to avoid burning lorry tyres because the action contributes to the deterioration of the roads".
Mr. Amoako said this at Jasikan in the Oti Region during a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a 56.4 kilometre--Lot10 Jasikan to Dodo Pepesu stretch of the Eastern Corridor road.
He said several sections of the Eastern Corridor road including; Asikuma-Kpeve were under construction as well as the Jasikan to Dodo Pepesu, which would be worked on to an asphaltic level.
The Road Minister restated government's resolve to fix all roads in the country and said contractors working on roads in the country would resume work at the end of November 2019.
He said the Ghana Highways Authority would supervise the works to ensure value for money and asked individuals whose property may be affected during the construction to cooperate with government in the payment of compensations.
