The 10th West & Central Africa Mining Summit & Expo 2019 opens tomorrow in Accra, Ghana. The two-day Summit will take place from 2 to 3 October at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel.
Also known as WaCA Mining, the event gathers extractive sector officials, producers and operators, investors and service and technology providers from the West and Central African mineral-rich region to engage and discuss the latest mining opportunities, projects and challenges.
His Excellency Hon Kwaku Asomah-Cheremeh, Minister, Ministry of Lands & Natural Resources, Ghana, will be officiating at the opening of the event.
The theme for this tenth edition of the WaCA Mining Summit is Energizing for Growth & Profits. The region, West Africa in particular, is poised for a golden era. Recent mining reforms and improvements in fiscal and regulatory frameworks have attracted new investments into the region. Get first-hand insights into the latest mining updates on Ghana, Burkina Faso, Cote d’ Ivoire, Senegal, Nigeria, etc.
Notable speakers at the Summit include Kwaku Addae Antwi-Boasiako, CEO, Minerals Commission, Ghana; Hajiya Fatima Shinkafi, Executive Secretary, Solid Minerals Development Fund, Nigeria; Ferdinand Koffi, Director, JOFEMA Mineral Resources and Director, Foravie, and 2nd Vice President, Chamber of Mines, Cote d’Ivoire, amongst others.
A diverse range of topics will be presented including the Goulamina Lithium Project - "The World's Largest Uncommitted Hard Rock Lithium Reserve (Fully-Permitted)" by Seydou Semega, Country Manager, Mali Lithium.
Green mining and application of the new drilling technology that will slash the cost of mining down by 50% will be presented by Bashir Akwasi Ahmed, Vice President, Development & Mining, Asante Gold Corporation.
Accessing funding and liquidity has always been a challenge for gold producers. Mamadou K Toure, Chairman & CEO, Ubuntu Capital, will be sharing a disruptive blockchain technology that enables gold producing concessions and mines to tokenise their assets.
Ralph Rossouw, Managing Director & Head of West Africa at Vedanta Resources & Fujairah Gold, will be sharing a case study on raising significant capital in challenging markets. 10th WaCA Mining 2019 is organized by Magenta Global Singapore with support from key industry stakeholders including the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources Ghana and the Minerals Commission of Ghana.
