Cowbell is 20 years old in Ghana and to celebrate this milestone, the brand plans to drill 20 boreholes for selected deprived communities and distribute over 200,000 sachets of Cowbell milk to malnourished children. In addition to these, the brand plans to launch a quiz programme known as Cowbellpedia, which will focus on the cognitive development of the school child and unearth the next generation of mathematicians and inventors in the country.
These were made known by Mr Joseph Ashong, Brand Manager of Cowbell at a media launch of the 20th anniversary celebrations of the Cowbell brand.
In a welcome address, the Managing Director of Promasidor Ghana Ltd, Mr Festus Tettey, said that from an intial workforce of 70 people in 1999, the company now employs 800 people and has in its range of products; dairy, food seasoning, cereals and spreads.
He said that as part of their Community Social Responsibility programmes, the Company is into sports, specifically cycling, caddy golf, school and mass sports. They are also into education and cognitive development, rewarding pupils and students at their speech and prize-giving days, sponsoring numerous quiz competitions to engender learning in schools and rewarding excellence. They also provide infrastructure such as furniture, classrooms and transportation to ferry children to and from schools in deprived communities.
In the area of health, Mr Tettey said that some infrastrucure has been provided in some selected deprived areas, and malnourished and needy children have been supported healthwise to put smiles on their faces.
He said that Cowbell will continue to innovate and create solutions to the needs of consumers and as the theme chosen for the 20th anniversary celebrations depicts, the brand will continue “Nourishing Bodies, Minds and Dreams”.
There were goodwill messages from some of their partners such as the Ghana Education Service and the National Communication for Civic Education.
