In attendance were personnel from the Ghana Police Service, National Ambulance Department, Ghana National Fire Service and Heads of Department of the District Assembly.

The district-wide campaign is a five-year partnership project with the support of the European Union to promote good governance and it is aimed at reducing corruption and improving accountability and compliance with the rule of law.

Mr Samuel Asare Akuamoah, the Deputy Chairperson of the NCCE, expressed gratitude to the European Union for their continuous support to stem the tide of corruption and promote the tenets of democracy in the country.

He said corruption, either alleged or proven, continues to bedevil the fortunes and economic progress of the country and described the support extended to the Commission to empower citizens to eschew the canker of corruption as timely.

Mr Akuamoah said corruption is the abuse of entrusted power for private gain, which manifests itself in the form of bribery, embezzlement, tax evasion and avoidance, moon lighting and littering among others.

He urged the security personnel not to misuse the authority given them but they should do their work effectively without fear or favour.

Mr Akuamoah said corruption has a damaging effect on the economy and also tends to affect the marginalized to the extent that, women, children and the physically challenged always bear the brunt of the situation.

Mr Joseph Owusu Koranteng, the Acting Kwahu East NCCE District Director, took the participants through article 41(f) of  the  1992 Cconstitution and explained that they have the duty to protect and preserve the nation.

Mr Koranteng also caution against using the Whistle-Blowing Act to put people they have problems with into trouble.

Participants implored the NCCE to also educate the entire public across the district to deepen their understanding on the issues raised.
