Nii Tetteh Otu II, Paramount Chief of Kpone Traditional Area, held a town hall meeting with non-indigenes residing in Kpone. Nii Otu, in a keynote address, said all residents both indigenous and non-indigenous had a stake in the sustainance of the community hence the need to share ideas to ensure peaceful co-existence.
Over 150 non-indigenes participated in the meeting and were given the opportunity to ask questions and offer suggestions. He said every community had its own customary laws and regulations which non-indigenes must appreciate.
According to him, there were instances where non indigenes frowned on the town’s customs, such as the ban on drumming and noise making during the annual Homowo celebrations.
The Paramount Chief again noted that Kpone was becoming dirty as a result of urbanization and asked all residents to help keep it clean. Nii Ofosu Oblie V, Mankralo of the Kpone, told the Ghana News Agency that, the Kpone Traditional Council was willing and able to welcome any one to work and live in Kpone.
Nii Oblie noted that Kpone had 10 clans which were opened to adopting willing non-indigenes. The Mankralo also noted that, Kpone had what it takes to accommodate both local and international investors.
