Twenty-five health professionals from Missouri State, United States of America (USA), have performed surgeries on patients with various diseases at the Yendi Municipal Hospital in the Northern Region.
Reverend Emmanuel Kwabena Mustapha, the Founder and Executive Director of Global Mission Resource Centre, who coordinated the activities, said the Mission, in Partnership with Cross for Mercy, have supported the Yendi Municipal Hospital for the past years to provide healthcare services to patients.
He said the 25 doctors and nurses were at the Hospital in January to carry out the surgeries adding that they would provide the services again in 2020. Dr Patricia Limpert, a member of the team from Missouri, said the visit was the fourth trip in six years adding that the surgeries were performed on patients with goiter, fibroids, hernia, laporotomises, and severe lapomis among other diseases.
She said they worked on 70 patients during their four-day stay at the Hospital.
Dr Abdulai Ayuba, the Medical Superintendent of the Yendi Municipal Hospital, expressed appreciation to the Missouri medical team for the efforts, especially coming with their own equipment to work with.
He said the team also donated some of the equipment to the Hospital. Mr Francis Kwaku Owusu, a Clinical Coordinator of the Hospital, said the facility registered 300 patients from Yendi and other parts of the Region for the exercise, out of which 70 were treated.
