Last weekend, Martell, the oldest of the great cognac houses, transformed a luxury tea garden in Accra into a magical oasis of Fire & Ice for the unveiling of two superior aged cognacs, Martell VSOP Aged in Red Barrels and Martell VS Single Distillery. The ultimate celebration was hosted by veteran broadcaster, Nathaniel "Citizen" Attoh and attended by nearly 400 guests including media, tastemakers and personalities such as French/Ghanaian Football Champion, Marcel Desailly, Radio/TV personality, Sammy Forson, actor Prince David Osei, and actresses Jackie Appiah and Ama K Abrebese.
The Savannah outdoor event space was divided into two unique atmospheres each representative of one of the cognacs being unveiled and featured Martell Mixologists offering special Fire & Ice concept cocktails. The “Ice” section was designed in white and cool blues and featured a live band, lounge furniture, and a very sophisticated display of “petites gourmandises” which is reflective of Martell VSSD, a supreme smooth blend, crafted from spirits drawn from a single distillation source. After the ‘Ice Queen’ paraded through
the crowd to unveil Martell VSSD, guests were escorted to the high energy “Fire” experience for the unveiling of Martell VSOP Aged in Red Barrels, named in reference to the reddish color of the aged wood casks it is exceptionally aged in. The Martell VSOP Aged in Red Barrels red environment featured acrobats, fire dancers, drummers, a dancefloor, ‘Fire Queen’, and a live DJ to amplify the intensity of the
rich and refined cognac.
“For over 300 years, the House of Martell has set the standard for quality and excellence and perfected its approach to producing superior quality cognacs by launching greatly disruptive products and reinventing standards through new blends, new designs and new cognac territories. The exciting launch of Martell VSSD and Martell VSOP Aged in Red Barrels in Ghana is typical of Martell’s legacy of transforming
experiences which we were thrilled to celebrate with so many others who share our curious spirit,” said Joseph Baffour Diawuoh, Martell Ambassador for Ghana.
