The beneficiary FBCs/FBOs were Zang Nangbanyini Viela from Yendi Municipality, Tinguri Wallimdi Women’s Group from West Mamprusi Municipality, and Suglo Nbori Buni from the Savelugu Municipality. 

KOICA’s support to the beneficiaries was in line with its project to strengthen FBCs/FBOs in the northern part of the country through training, consultancy, networking opportunities and financial support.

The project dubbed: “Capacity Development of FBCs/FBOs” seeks to enhance the capacity of FBCs/FBOs in the Northern, Upper East and Upper West Regions to promote rural development as well as improve the quality of life of rural residents.

The project is being implemented by KOICA and Association of Church-Based Development NGOs (ACDEP), in partnership with the government through the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations.

Mr Lee Young-Ho, Manager of Capacity Development of FBCs/FBOs in Northern Ghana project, who handed over the Motorkings to the FBCs/FBOs in Tamale on Tuesday, said it would encourage farmers to increase their productivity for higher incomes.

Alhaji Alhassan Issahaku, Chief Director of the Northern Regional Coordinating Council, spoke about the contribution of FBCs/FBOs to the development of agriculture in the country, saying the support to them would strengthen them to boost production for better incomes.

Alhaji Issahaku expressed gratitude to KOICA for the support, saying it would ensure the success of the project. He urged beneficiary FBCs/FBOs to regularly maintain the Motorkings to ensure that they were in good shape to help in transporting their produce to market centres.

Mr Alhassan Mohammed, Member of the Zang Nangbanyini Viela FBO located at Yendi, one of the beneficiary FBCs/FBOs, said feeder roads linking their farming communities were in deplorable state, expressing delight that the Motorkings would help improve productivity as there would be means to transport the produce out of the farms.
