Background: The UNESCO Institute for Statistics is developing a Global Education Data Portal (GEDP) that aims to harmonize disparate data sources into an umbrella web presence that supports the needs of a targeted collection of users. The first step in the development of the GEDP is a global consultation that aims to validate target users and identify their needs.
What are the objectives of this consultation?
Provide a basis for the development of a Global Education Data Portal and serve as a central data hub to support monitoring and policy efforts at the global, regional and country levels to achieve SDG 4. The portal aims to improve the quality and accessibility of global education data, with a special focus on learning outcomes data.
How can the survey be accessed?
The survey is available online at gedp.uis.unesco.org. It is open and transparent and accessible to all relevant stakeholders.
What is the survey timeline?
From now until October 7th, 2018, we want as many educationalists in as many countries as possible to be involved: Ministries of Education, department of assessments and/or examinations, multilateral organizations, regional organizations and groups, civil society, teachers, researchers, and academics.
What will happen to the survey results and how will they be used?
The data from this online questionnaire is a fundamental part of the scoping initiative that will direct the design and development of the GEDP. The data from the website will be consolidated and analyzed to inform discussions leading up to the development of the GEDP.
