They should particularly monitor the implementation of the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) and the Capitation Grant to ensure the children enjoyed the maximum benefits of these social interventions.

Mr Jonas Yeboah, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer of the Youth Development, Research and Innovation Centre (YOUDRIC), made the call at a stakeholder’s forum at Asankare in the Asante Akim South Municipality.

The forum which was organized by (YOUDRIC) with funding from STAR-GHANA was attended by representatives of School Management Committees (SMCs), Parents Teachers Association (PTAs), assembly members, unit committee members, religious bodies and teachers.

It sought to among others, sensitize participants on their responsibility to monitor the GSFP and the capitation grant in schools located in their communities to ensure social accountability.

It forms part of STAR-GHANA’s anti-corruption campaign which feeds into the National Anti-Corruption Action Plan (NACAP).

Mr Jonas Yeboah said it is imperative for members of the SMCs, PTAs and assembly members to work closely with school authorities for judicious disbursement of the capitation grant.

This, he said, would promote transparency and encourage members of the communities to voluntarily spearhead the development of the schools.

He cautioned them not to usurp the authorities of the school heads but cooperate with them to achieve a common goal of utilizing the meagre resources for the benefit of the children.

The participants numbering about 160 commended YOUDRIC for the education and pledged their commitment to play their respective roles for the development of their schools.
