The Ghanaian/German Kindergarten School at Denkyemuoso in the Atwima-Kwanwoma District has received an amount of £12,500 from a German art collector. The amount is to help the school purchase a bus and provide child-friendly materials to make the school environment attractive to children and improve teaching and learning.
Mr Albert Osei-Wusu, Founder of the school told the Ghana News Agency that, the donation was in response to a request made to Mrs. Frau Ingvid Goetz, Founder of Goetz Kunst Sammler, an Art collection organisation in Munich, Germany. The Rotary Club of Geriesried in Munich-Germany has also donated an amount of £8,000, to help phase-lift the school, while Friends of Ankobra, also in Munich, have pledged to support the school.
He said the institution was formerly a vocational training school but enrolment had declined due to the implementation of the government’s free senior high school programme. It was therefore converted into a modern Kindergarten and basic school to help give quality primary education to children in the community.
Mr Osei-Wusu said the school currently has an enrolment of 150 children with a staff strength of 15 and the children were being fed a free meal each day and a moderate fee was being charged to encourage parents to enrol their children to receive quality education.
Mr. Osei-Wusu praised Mrs. Goezt and the other benefactors for their continued support to the school to train young children.
