Total Petroleum Ghana on Tuesday donated computers to the Osu Presbyterian Preparatory School in Accra to aid teaching and studying of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
The computers, with accompanying system units, will contribute to increasing the resources of the school. Mr Eric Fanchini, the Managing Director of Total Petroleum, said the gesture, which forms part of the corporate social responsibility of the company, was to support education in the country.
He urged the students to use the computers to research and create new things.
Mr Mawuli Ababio, the Board Chairman of the School, lauded the effort of the company and thanked the management for coming to the aid of the School. Madam Veronica Appiah-Kubi, the Headmistress of the School, expressed gratitude to Total Petroleum for the computers and said it came in at time when the school needed such resources.
In 2013, Total Petroleum set up a Total Safety Cube, a safety programme being championed with the support of Road Safety Agencies, which focuses on sensitising school children in high-risk areas on road safety through practical demonstrations and donation of safety kits.
In 2017 it supported about 8,200 pupils in the Upper East and the Northern regions. In addition, the company has constructed a school facility comprising a three-unit block, an office, a playground, a KVIP, and a urinal in the Jirapa District of the Upper West Region.
