Mr Blankson said the initiative has become necessary to adequately resource personnel of the Service to work efficiently adding that the GNPC is committed to increasing the package to a million dollars.He said the Service has also lifted the ban on study leave to improve the quality of its human resource and said a quota system would be adopted to ensure regional balance, with a priority for personnel in deprived areas.

Mr Blankson said a “Strategic Human Resource Policy” would be developed to address issues relating to promotions and capacity building within the Service, with opportunity for staff to train overseas.He said the Service would renew the National Health Insurance cards for personnel and would bear costs for the treatment of listed ailments.

Mr Blankson urged personnel of the Service to demonstrate self discipline, hard work and selflessness in the discharge of their duties and make the GNFS an enviable Service in the sub-region.

Madam Daniela Ntow Sarpong, Volta Regional Commander of the Service, said the region has a personnel strength of 396, and was recording a decline in fire outbreaks which she attributed to fire safety education.She appealed for more intercommunication devices adding that with 23 districts in the region having fire stations, Volta would be first to meet the target of “One District One Fire Station”.
