They had been milling food items not only for individuals but families and for commercial use. He was speaking at a durbar held at Kwabeng in the Atiwa District as part of the stepped up campaign to assist people in the area to take to proper handwashing.

The programme was organized by the Community Water and Sanitation (CWSA) with support from the Ernst Peyer Foundation of Switzerland.  The District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr. Kwabena Nkansah, in a speech read for him, said proper washing of the hands, face and the body, could help prevent many diseases.

It was therefore important for everybody, especially school children, to make the practice a habit.  He invited chiefs and the clergy, to lead the handwashing and environmental sanitation campaigns in the district to save people from getting sick. Mr. Henry Johnson Ampah, Eastern Regional Director of the CWSA, said the agency would continue to create awareness and motivate the people to do the right things to reduce disease infection and transmission.
