Unilever Ghana has launched a newly formulated Omo -with the Power of 10 Hands- to provide consumers with a premium product that delivers a fast acting formula to remove the toughest stains.
The new Omo with the power of 10 hands is designed with enhanced packaging features to offer consumers, especially mothers, the opportunity to deal with the daily challenges of dirt when the kids go out to play.
Mr Ziobeieton Yeo, the Managing Director of Unilever Ghana, who made this known at the launch said, it was important for children to express themselves through outdoor activities as they develop key skills that will enhance their confidence, thereby contributing to their future success.
“We are committed to doing more to help them raise children with superior creative imaginations, developed through play and we are matching our commitment with investments that would ensure constant and reliable supply of the product to the market,” he said. Mr Yeo said Unilever Ghana had begun the packaging of Omo locally, creating both direct and indirect job openings for many Ghanaians, and helping to transfer skills and technology in the process.
He commended government for creating the needed business friendly environment for the transaction of business, adding that Unilever would continue to play a leadership role in the development of the country. Mr Carlos Ahenkorah, the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, who was the guest of honour, said the launch of Omo with the Power of 10 hands reinforced the importance of branding and marketing and sustenance of traditional brands.
“Not only does Unilever bring to bear its powerful brand on households but also demonstrates its ability to create concepts and develop lasting perceptions, which are important for growth,” he said, adding that, the customer focused approach is important for every company’s growth.
Mr Ahenkorah encouraged Unilever to consider building linkages with Small and Medium Enterprises in an industrial sub-contracting framework that enhances their capacities and provide jobs. He said government would continue to collaborate with industry to enable the private sector contribute its quota to the country’s economic development.
Mr Ahenkorah commended Unilever Ghana for the investment to commence packaging of Omo locally and to transfer skills and technology and called on the company to implement more of such initiatives in response to calls to increase local content in the production of goods.
