Initiated in 2015, the WASH for Health is a five year USAID funded project to accelerate sustainable improvement in water and sanitation access and improve hygiene behaviours in 30 target districts in five regions of the country.

Mr Edward Thompson, Behaviour Change Communication Specialist, at the Regional launch of the Digni-loo said the digni-loo was a durable, affordable plastic slabs that served as an alternative to basic sanitation options for households.

He said the Global Communities together with Duraplast Ghana limited developed the system to help deprived households to have access to lavatory facilities as a measure to halt open defecation.

The “Digni- Loo” could be used with any soil type with the plastic drums serving as a lining and could be removed and reused, with additional seat for the physically challenged.
