Seven Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCOP) have been promoted to the rank of commissioners. This brings the number of Commissioners of Police to 14.
In addition, 31 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACP), have also been promoted to the rank of DCOPs.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo upon the recommendation of the Police Council did the promotions, a statement signed and issued by the Director General of Police Public Affairs, ACP David Eklu said on Monday.
The promotions takes effect from July 1, 2017.
The newly promoted Commissioners are;
COP/Mr. Akuribah Yaagy - Director-General/National Patrols;
COP/Rev. David Nenyi Ampah-Benyin - Central Regional Police Commander;
COP/Mr. Charles Kpapu Torkor - Commandant at the Ghana Police Command and Staff College;
COP/Mr. Maxwell Sakipasgo Atingane - Director-General/Motor Traffic & Transport;
COP/Mr. Bright Oduro - Director-General/Criminal Investigations,
COP/Mr. Osabarima Oware Pinkro III - Director-General/Research and Planning and
COP/Mr. Isaac Ken Yeboah -Ashanti Regional Police Commander.
This brings the number of Commissioners of Police to fourteen (14).
The 31 Assistant Commissioners of Police who have now been promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioners include officers from the general police pool and medical professionals.
DCOPs
Those who made it to DCOP include Mr Anthony Tennyson Aidoo, Mr Alphose Mark Adu-Amankwa, Mr George Alex Mensah, Mr Patrick Adusei Sarpong, Mr Godfred Owusu-Boateng, Mr Samuel Monney, Mr Kwadwo Boapea Otchere, Mr Kwame Barima-Akyeampong, Ms Sabina Osei-Bonsu, Mr Timothy Bonga Yoosa and Mr Emmanuel Bossoh Yoosa.
The rest are Mr Edward Oduro-Kwarteng, Mr John Owiredu-Nkansah, Mr Kofi Dwumfour Berchie, Nana Asomah Hinneh, Mr Edward Johnson Oyirifi Akrofi, Mr Osei Kwaku Ampofo-Duku, Ms Elizabeth Dassah, Mr Enoch Adutwum Bediako, Mr Emmanuel Appiah, Mr Kwaku Boadu-Peprah, Mr Frederick Adu Anim and Mr Okyere Anane-Danquah.
