He said using violent means of communicating grievances would not lead to any meaningful solution and rather mar the prevailing peace.Mr Asigri said this when he addressed students at the Issa Youth Leadership Skills Training Institute in the Upper West Region

The meeting was an attempt by concerned stakeholders to resolve the impasse between students and management of the Institute. Mr Asigri said as students, they were brought to the school to be trained to better their lot and expressed concern that some of them have developed the habit of confronting their teachers.

He said the Institute was governed by law and cautioned the students and the management alike not to take the law into their own hands as this would be deleterious to the progress of the Institute.Mr Asigri pledged government’s commitment to addressing the challenge that has led to the  misunderstanding before the next academic term begins.

Master Nargo Patrick, the Senior Prefect of the Institute, said poor quality food, ineffective Information and Communication Technology lessons and inactive Parent Teacher Association (PTA) in spite of the levies they paid, were some of the factors that led to the disturbances. He gave the assurance that they would not repeat the act.

Mr Dzorkplenu Ede Zico, the Principal of the Institute, said the purported poor quality of food was as a result of inadequate funds and the delay in the release of feeding grants by government to the Institute over the past two years. He assured the students of improved quality of food and other services such as teaching and learning when they resume from the break.

About two weeks ago the students of the Issa Youth Leadership Training Institute revolted against their teachers and management over poor conditions of services.
