An appeal has been to the Member of Parliament (MP) for Gomoa West and Central government to provide means of transport for Gomoa West Directorate of Ghana Education Service (GES) to enhance effective supervision and monitoring.
Mr Peter Bright Amankra, Gomoa West District Director of education made the appeal when he addressed students and teachers as part of the activities marking the year-long Ghana’s 60th Anniversary Celebration at Apam.
He said the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) would soon be conducted nationwide and it will be difficult for officers to effect good monitoring and supervision.Mr Amankra said it would also assist the directorate to reach out to all schools and ensure constant running of workshops and other programmes in the district to enhance quality education.
He said the district was in need of the vehicle since the existing cars have become unusable.
He stated that education as bedrock of development offered the best hope for future leaders of the country and urged parents to take advantage of the free senior High School policy of the government which would commence in September this year to take their children to school.
The District Director appealed to teachers and officers of the directorate to discharge their duties effectively to improve quality teaching and learning. He asked teachers to Endeavour to serve as role models to their students to enable them become responsible adults in future.
