The exercise, conducted at the weekend, screened children of malaria, typhoid, hepatitis and other childhood diseases.It also provided mosquito nets and stationeries worth to GH¢3,000 to the children at the Saviour Home Foundation, a charity organisation.

The Project Coordinator of You at Heart Foundation, Nana Kontor Nketsiah, told the Ghana News Agency that the Foundation’s prime objective was to support the less-privileged children in the society making the health screening was part of its mission.He said the Foundation for the past two years had supported over 1,500 children in three regions with stationery and learning kits, and also paid for the medical expenses of others.

Nana Nketsiah said it would also fund the registration of 840 children at the charity home onto the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) as part of its quest to ensure good health.Aside that, he said, it has mentored the youth through career counselling as well as ensuring sustainable improvement of their health and wellbeing.

‘‘We exist simply to bring help and hope to those in need. Our focus is on their health, education and we also foster community partnerships and empower the underprivileged through dignity and respect.‘‘Therefore, we have demonstrated this commitment through our actions,’’ he stated.

Reverend Patrick Nwodobeh, the Founder of the Saviour Children Foundation Home, thanked the donors for the kind gesture and asked other philanthropic organisations to come to their aid.He said it started the charity home in 2011 providing free education, feeding and other basic needs to the less-privileged children with proceeds from his coconut farm.

He said the facility needed computers so that the children could undertake practical work and funds to register 34 candidates from the charity school who would take part in this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examinations in June.
