The Chief Nursing Officer of the Ministry of Health, Mr George Kumi Kyeremeh has warned that no unprofessional behaviour will be tolerated.
“We shall encourage, inspire, commend and praise where it is due but we shall investigate all unprofessional behaviour and apply the necessary sanctions in accordance with our code and ethics of the profession”, he said.
Mr Kyeremeh gave the warning at a durbar held at the Community Health Nurses Training School in Winneba as part of activities marking the celebration of the Students Representative Council/Alumina week celebration.
The theme for the celebration was “quality pre-service education- the need for adequate infrastructure in the contemporary health system”.
Mr Kyeremeh said the image of the profession has been dented by the attitude of few bad nuts among them and called for hard work to change the negative perception.
He said the students that they have chosen the right and profession and it’s for them to prove their worth.
He expressed concern about indiscipline in some the nurses training institutions, adding that nursing and midwifery irrespective of whatever level they find themselves deal with human life.
The Minister for Lands and Natural Resource, Mr Mike Hammah advised the students against immorality to avoid contracting HIV/AIDS.
He appealed to parents to invest in their children’s education instead of spending on expensive funerals.
The SRC President, Mr Emmanuel Armah Eduku appealed to the students and the Alumni to gear their efforts towards the provision of infrastructure for their school.
The Omanhene of Effutu, Neenyi Chartey VII, who chaired the function, urged the students to use the good environment of the school to study hard to become useful citizens.
