The Western Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Ransford Moses Ninson has charged the police personnel in the region to remain disciplined in the course of the enforcement of law and order.
He said discipline is the hallmark of the Police Service and the essential part of it’s polices in enforcing the law and therefore
urged men and women in uniform to strictly administer it in all their activities.
DCOP Ninson made these remarks at a Send-off party in Takoradi on Friday, for the outgoing Western Regional Police Commander, DCOP Alhaji Hamidu Mahama ,who had been appointed as the Director-General, Human Resource Development at the National Police headquarters in Accra.
He entreated all police personnel to abide by the Disciplinary Regulations and Codes of the Service in order not to fall foul.
“There can be no effective policing or law enforcement in any society without a structure that recognizes and projects discipline.
It is in this direction that the Police Administration has made enforcement of discipline the cornerstone of its major polices.
We therefore cannot enforce discipline through enforcement of the laws when we as policemen and women are not disciplined.” he said.
DCOP Ninson described the outgoing regional commander as affable, disciplinarian, hardworking and intelligent police officer who had distinguished himself during his tenure of office in the region.
He commended DCOP Mahama for ensuring relative peace and stability in the region and appealed to the police officers in the region to extend the same support and cooperation to him in order to provide the necessary security to all citizenry in the region.
“The region remains relatively calm with a few cases of robbery, murder, chieftaincy and motor accidents.
Notwithstanding, the relative peace currently prevailing in the region, the situation is being monitored and efforts are being made to
bring them to the barest minimum”, he assured.
For his part, the outgoing regional commander, DCOP Alhaji Mahama pledged to continue to extend his cooperation and support to the new
police commander in ensuring peace and stability in the region.
“Western Region will forever be part of my history and I would continue to assist the regional command to improve security in the
region”, he added.
He advised the police personnel to be loyal at all times to the Police Service and the regional command and work harder to sustain the
achievement chalked during his tenure of office.
The regional command also presented awards to hard working police officers who had distinguished themselves in their work over the
years.
