The Red Cross said there were no immediate reports of deaths after a magnitude 5.9 earthquake hit Costa Rica.
The shaker was felt over much of the Central American nation late Friday and knocked out cell phone service in many areas.
The Costa Rican Red Cross told the Tico Times there were many reports of injuries and relatively minor damage. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported in the aftermath.
The newspaper said folks in the capital San Jose weathered the shaking without too much concern.
"I believe after a few days people will forget today's incident," said Miguel Arce, a retired construction worker.
