Mr Kwaku Oppong-Kyekyeku Kaakyire, the Afigya-Kwabre District Chief Executive (DCE) has urged Muslims to unite and pray for the peace and progress of the country.
He asked them to rally strongly behind the Government and do away with tendencies that are likely to draw the nation back.
Mr Oppong-Kyekyeku was addressing over 200 Muslims at Denase in the district after joining them to offer special prayers and thanksgiving to God for the nation’s 54th independence anniversary
celebration on Friday.
The event formed part of the President’s one-week prayer, fasting and thanksgiving programme that is to be observed by all religious organizations at the national, regional and the district levels.
The DCE advised that they exercise religious and political tolerance even at the extreme provocations.
Mr Oppong-Kyekyeku asked all Ghanaians to thank God for the peace prevailing in the county and work hard to sustain it.
“God has blessed Ghana, look at the disturbing events in some African Countries especially, in the northern parts but we are free”,
he added.
He said the Government was doing all that it could through its better Ghana agenda to accelerate the socio-economic development of the country.
Mallam Alhassan Aboubakr, the Chief Imam, prayed for the President and his Ministers and all those involved in the sustaining and ensuring peace, unity and development of the country.
He said they would continue to pray so that Allah would protect the nation always.
“We do not want to hear or see what is happening in other countries here”, the Chief Imam added.
