Na Bohagu Mahami Abudulai Sheriga, the Overlord of the Mamprugu Traditional Area, has commended the Catholic Diocese of Navrongo-Bolgatanga for successfully mediating in key conflicts in his area.
He mentioned especially the conflict between the people of Kambatiak and Gbankoni Traditional areas which the Church through collaborations with key opinion leaders from the communities intervened and succeeded in bringing relative peace to the area.
Following this achievement by the Church, Na Bohagu Mahami Abudulai Sheriga invited the Church to his Palace to ascertain the degree of successes chalked through their intervention to enable the traditional authorities do the necessary arrangements to pacify the land for life to continue.
Mr. Joseph Ayambilla, the Acting Diocesan Development Coordinator of the Church, told the GNA that in view of the Church’s achievements in conflict resolution in the Mamprugu Traditional Area the Nayiri had developed trust in the Catholic Church.
Mr. Ayambilla quoted the King as having said that peace at Kambatiak and Gbankoni Traditional areas meant peace in the whole of Mamprugu.
He said the King attributed the success chalked by the Catholic Church in the area to its impartiality in resolving the conflict for both parties to thread the peace path adding “You succeeded because you are Christians and treat everybody the same.”
Those who went to the King’s palace were the Diocesan Administrator, Very Rev. Msgr. Thomas Anamooh, Rusmond Anyinah, Peace Coordinator, Perpetual Koganah, from the Satellite Peace Centre and Mr Ayambilla.
The Very Rev Monsignor Anamooh said he was humbled by the Nayiri’s call to the palace and that the success chalked by the Diocese was made possible through the support of the King the two factions and the parish team.
