Dr Lawrence Tetteh, President of the Worldwide
Miracle Outreach, on Tuesday called on the government to put in place a comprehensive risk assessment on how the oil find could national enhance development.
He said this was necessary to avoid the rivalry and contention that had the potential of undermining national stability and integration.
Dr Tetteh made this known to the Ghana News Agency in Accra, after addressing a crusade organised by the Methodist Church of Ghana, at the Independence Square on the theme: "I can do all things through Christ."
He said a risk assessment could help the country to veer from the problems associated with oil in the Niger Delta in Nigeria.
The crusade was under the auspices of Rt Rev Abraham Tagoe, Bishop of the Methodist Church and Rt Rev Samuel Quartey, Chairman of the Planning
Committee.
Vice President John Dramani Mahama and a representative of President John Evans Atta Mills patronised the three-day Wesleyan revival.
Dr Tetteh said Ghana should learn from the international economics term- the Deutsch disease, which referred to the passion Germans attached to their oil find, compelling the country to blow huge amount of money pursuing
an economic mirage.
"Through hard work oil find should not be bait for doom. It should rather enhance development and growth," he said.
Dr Tetteh asked people in authority to have a collective responsibility to ensure the prosperity of Ghana.
He said every Ghanaian should strive to protect the credibility of the country to facilitate international investments.
"Ghana needs a united front," he stressed.
He appealed to the clergy to instil discipline in the country, explaining that unlike politicians who are elected by the people they have been chosen by God to do his bidding.
Papa Olangi, a Minister of the Gospel from Congo and founder of the Spiritual Warfare Ministries with more than 100,000 congregation, lauded the historic sacrifice Ghana offered in the 1960's to free his country from political crises.
Calling Ghana, his second home, he offered intercessory prayers for the peace and stability of the country.
