Mr Robert Benefo, Nkoranza circuit supervisor of schools has called for an effective collaboration, between teachers in primary schools and their counterparts in Junior High Schools, to help improve the poor academic standards in the communities.
"Primary school teachers should work hard enough to produce better students for the JHS, so that teachers at that level would not encounter many problems in handling and preparing them for their Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE)", he said.
Mr Benefo was addressing a meeting with head teachers and headmasters in the circuit, during which, they studied the performance of their schools in this year's BECE.
The meeting also deliberated on problems facing teachers and students, to enable them to strategise and find solutions for better educational standards in the schools.
Mr Benefo expressed concern about the lateness of some primary school teachers to schools and called on the head teachers to effectively supervise their teachers to redouble their efforts.
The circuit supervisor urged parents to monitor the movements and activities of their children and also ensure that they learn at home to complement the efforts of teachers.
This, he said, would enable them to prepare adequately for their final-year examinations.
Mr Kwaku Amoah-Tutu, head of inspectorate division of the Nkoranza South District Directorate of Education, cautioned teachers against lateness, absenteeism and apathy, since such negative practices affect productivity.
He called on parents to support the teachers to promote discipline in the schools.
Meanwhile, the Nkoranza district Directorate of education is to organise a special quiz competition for basic schools in the area, to enhance the learning capabilities of the school children.
