The Bawku West District Assembly, has so far distributed 8,351 school uniforms and 20,425 exercise books to pupils in the area.
Mr Adam Moro Anabah, District Chief Executive (DCE), who made this known, said the assembly had also constructed a six- unit classroom block and kindergarten at Kusanaba and a three-unit teachers' accommodation at Gore and Tanga to improve teaching and learning.
Addressing a "meet the press series" in Zebilla, he said the district assembly had provided a three- unit classroom block at Atarikom, six unit-unit teachers quarters and rehabilitated a six-unit classroom at Timonde.
Mr Anabah said a three -unit classroom block and a store, four- seater KVIP toilet and urinal have been provided at Atarikom, six- unit classroom block, office and store and two-unit urinals at Lamboya model school and a two-unit workshop at Kusanaba Vocational Centre.
He said the construction of a dinning hall complex is underway at Zebilla secondary technical.
Touching on the progress of health, the DCE said the district is pursuing disease control, nutrition and malaria prevention.
"Our endeavour of achieving our priority health concerns, which sought to support, expand and equip our health facilities were met," he said.
Mr Anabah said the district assembly had provided Community Based Health Planning Services facilities at Agatuse and Kopella, Nurses' quarters at Timonde, Doctor's bungalow at Zebilla and offered financial support for National Immunisation Day programmes as well as medical students outreach programmes.
He said under the National Health Insurance Scheme, 95 per cent of 69.844 Out Patients attendance to the health facility have been insured.
He said in order to boost agricultural productivity, a total of 13,221 bags of fertilisers were sold to 2,345 men and 418 women under the agricultural subsidy programme.
Mr Anabah said another consignment of 10,182 bags of fertiliser received was sold to 4,272 farmers at subsidised prices.
He said a total of 150 hectares of rice, 260 hectares of Soya beans and 95 hectares of maize were cultivated in the district under the block farm programme.
Mr Anabah said GH�22,160.00 was disbursed to 216 students in second cycle and tertiary institutions in 2009 from the MP's Share of the District Assemblies' Common Fund, while GH�14,600.00 would be given out this year to 144 students.
