The Bibiani Magistrate's Court has ordered a 29-year-old farmer at Brofoyedu near Obuasi to be held in jail for 12 months, for stealing two pregnant goats valued at GH120.00.
Bediako Kyeremeh pleaded guilty to the offence.
Police Chief Inspector Michael Agbaglo told the court presided over by Mr Osei Kofi Amoako that the complainants are police officers at Bibiani in the Western Region.
On October 17, they were on routine duty at a police check-point at Lineso on the Kumasi-Bibiani highway when they flagged a bus to stop.
The prosecution said the police found two pregnant goats during a search conducted on the vehicle and became suspicious.
They therefore subjected Kyeremeh, who claimed ownership of the animals, to some questioning and he confessed stealing them at Bibiani.
He said after investigations, the convict was charged.
