An official of the National Youth Council (NYC), on Monday charged Ghanaian youth to be assertive and proactive in their contributions to Government policies.
Mr Prince Derrick Adjei, Deputy National Coordinator of the NYC, expressed the hope that the contributions would enhance existing policy direction for national development.
He made the call at a durbar organized by the University College of Management Studies (UCOM) in Accra.
Mr Adjei described the Ghanaian youth as very talented and prolific engineers of innovative ideas, thereby making their involvement in national issues the surest way of making a better future for tomorrow's older generation as well as Government's Better Ghana Agenda.
He said Government was committed to facilitating contributions of the youth into a national policy for development and assured participants that their inputs would be considered.
Speaking on the National Youth Policy, he called on participants and the public to familiarize themselves with the document for action.
The policy, which was launched by Government in August this year, is expected to provide a blueprint for the empowerment of the country's youth.
Mr John G. Gatsi, a lecturer at the University of Cape Coast, called for increased funding of science education and financing of research institutions as one of the surest means of creating an entrepreneurial platform for the youth.
"The youth of Ghana expect focused attention from government to increase investment in key sectors of the economy to address quality education and skills training, entrepreneurial finance, employment and housing needs of the country," he said.
