The Adjabeng Court '2' on Thursday fined Alhaji Sulemana Bussim an amount of GH¢480.00 or in default serve one year imprisonment for allowing his herd of cattle to stray, cause stampede and traffic congestion in the Metropolis.
The court presided over by Mrs Mary Addington, also ordered the accused person to relocate his animals from the Metropolis.
Prosecuting, Miss Linda Kumbonu of the Health Department of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, told the court that Environmental Health Officers on their normal rounds at Nima found the accused keeping a large number of cattle in his premises.
She said despite persistent warnings and ongoing public education about animal rearing in the Metropolis, the accused failed to comply with the directives to relocate his cattle.
Miss Kumbuno said straying of cattle in the Metropolis posed a serious nuisance which involved the loss of lives and a worry to the majority of the people in most residential areas.
She said all efforts to get Alhaji Bussim to comply had proved futile hence the need to serve him summons to appear in court.
