Dr Sheikh Ismael Saeed Adam, an Islamic Scholar,
has encouraged Muslims to actively participate in the Population and Housing Census, scheduled for September this year.
He said the exercise was a key to the development agenda of government, as it allows for the equitable distribution of funds, service, resources and social amenities, including housing, health care and education.
Dr Adam reminded Muslims that Islamic tenets are not against the exercise; therefore, they should collaborate with the census officers and
enumerators to be counted when the exercise takes off on September 26.
He made the call, when he made a donation of variety of items to some needy Muslims at Sawaba in Kumasi, towards the celebration of the Eidul Fitr festival.
They included 25 fowls, clothes, 25 mini bags of rice, 50 copies of the Quran and mats.
The event coincided with Quran (Tafcre), an occasion used to explain the Quranic doctrines and tenets to Muslims, by the Sheiks, to strengthen their faith.
Dr Adam saluted Muslims for enduring the Ramadan period, saying they should let lessons learnt from the fasting guide them in their lives.
They should be holy and also foster good neighbourliness for the advancement of peace and unity in the country.
Sheikh Adam challenged Muslims to send their children to school to enlighten and empower them for future challenges.
