Nii Armah Ashietey, Greater Accra Regional Minister, on Thursday asked parents not to relent in making good investment in their children.
�As parents we should not allow any hindrances in discharging our responsibilities towards our children,� he added.
Nii Ashietey, who is also Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle Constituency, was addressing the closing session of a four-week vacation classes he organised for Junior High School (JHS) students in the constituency.
He urged parents to show greater interest in the academic performance of their children by periodically visiting their schools to assess their
performance.
Nii Ashietey asked the students to study hard and pass their examinations and explained that the vacation classes was organised to help the students to complete their syllabus and prepare adequately for the 2011 Basic Education Certificate Examination.
He pledged to sustain the free vacation classes for the students and he would pay regular visits to schools in the constituency to assess their performance, and commended the teachers for their selflessness towards the classes estimated at about GH�6,000.
Mrs Glady Bugri, Officer in-Charge, Osu Klottey Sub-Metropolitan Area, said 662 JHS students from public schools at Adabraka, Osudoku and Farisco Adjabeng educational circuits participated in the classes.
She commended the educational directorate in the constituency for conducting periodic evaluation on the performance of the teachers during the classes.
Ms Jemima Melody Osom, a student from St Joseph Basic School at Adabraka on behalf of the students expressed gratitude to Nii Ashietey for the gesture.
