Charles Badasu, a driver, has been sentenced to a
fine of GHC200, by a Hohoe circuit court, for negligently causing harm to one, Mariama Gidi, a 75 year-old farmer.
Badasu, pleaded guilty to careless and inconsiderate driving and negligently causing harm.
He would serve five months in prison on each charge, to run concurrently, in default of the fine.
Assistant Superintendent of Police, Mr Benjamin Dadzie, prosecuting, told the court, presided over by Mr Edward Apenkwa, that Badasu, who was driving an Opel Kadet taxi, with four other passengers, were travelling from Hohoe to Golokwati, when the incident occurred on February 18, this year.
He said Badasu knocked the victim down at a section of the road near Gbi-Atabu, when she attempted to cross the road, injuring her in the
process.
Mr Dadzie said, the victim, was rushed to the Hohoe Municipal hospital, where she was treated and discharged.
He said a report was made to the police, leading to the arrest and prosecution of Badasu.
