A helicopter on a rescue mission crashed on a mountain in Japan's Saitama Prefecture Sunday with seven people on board, police said.
Police in Chichibu said one person was found alive while the city's fire department said it had information that two had survived, Kyodo News
reported.
Police told the Japanese news agency the helicopter was on a mission to rescue a member of a climbing party on the mountain when it went down about 11:10 a.m.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism said the aircraft was smoldering but there were no flames.
The helicopter belonged to the Saitama prefectural government. Those on board included a pilot, a co-pilot, three prefectural government aviation security officers and two rescue operators from the local fire department, Kyodo said.
