A 31-year-old Nigerian, John Languar on Tuesday appeared before an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl.
In the dock with Languar was his 27-year-old girlfriend, Juliet Setordzi being held for compounding crime, because the victim was her
daughter but she failed to report the incident to the Police.
The court presided over by Mrs Georgina Mensah-Datsa did not take their pleas and remanded them in custody to re-appear on Tuesday, July 13.
Police Inspector I.A.A. Ahor, prosecuting prayed the court to reserve their pleas pending further investigations into the matter and to prefer the appropriate charges against them.
He said Languar deals in mobile phones while Juliet sells beverages at Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra.
The prosecution said sometime in April this year, Juliet sent the victim to Languar to collect money for her who defiled her.
The prosecution said the victim who kept the incident to herself later revealed her ordeal to some friends who informed Juliet but she failed to
report the matter to the Police.
A good Samaritan alerted the Police who arrested the accused persons and referred the matter to the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit for investigations.
