The District Chief Executive (DCE), for Asante-Akim South, Mr De-graft Fokuo, has cut the sod for construction work to start on a GH260,000.00 six-classroom block, for the Juaso Senior High School (SHS).
The project, scheduled for completion within three months, is being funded by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund).
The job has been awarded to Intercity Contractors.
Mr Fokuo said this was a demonstration of the government's commitment towards improving schools infrastructure.
He said the successful completion of the project would help to create more space to ease the present overcrowding in the classrooms.
He said quality education demanded the provision of sufficient teaching and learning facilities, and this, the government would make sure, were in place.
The DCE assured the school of the assembly's support, and urged the contractor to deliver within the time frame.
Mr Joseph Kenniford Adasi, the Headmaster, hailed the project, saying, it could not have come at a better time.
He appealed for the construction of dormitories and teachers' bungalows to bring some relief to the students and tutors.
