The development chief of Goaso Traditional Area, Nana Yaw Badu Kaakyire, at the weekend stressed the need for collaboration between chiefs and their subjects, to ensure successful implementation of government policies and programmes.
Nana Badu Kaakyire, a journalist based in Italy, made the call when he interacted with some journalists at Goaso in the Asunafo North Municipality of Brong Ahafo Region.
He said chieftaincy was not only about durbars and sittings in state; hence chiefs must use their positions to spearhead the development of their areas.
He expressed regret that chieftaincy, which should have been the catalyst for development, was rather becoming an institution which was
retarding progress and development of the people due to disputes.
Nana Badu Kaakyire said the constitutional provision that barred chiefs from active involvement in politics as appropriate to ensuring unity, peace and development in the country.
