A suicide bombing in a marketplace in Sharqat, Iraq, killed eight people, including six police officers, and wounded 16 others, police said.
Officials said the attacker detonated a belt of explosives around his waist while police officers and civilians were checking the damage caused by a roadside bomb, the Kuwaiti news agency KUNA
reported Monday.
The attack in the northern Iraqi community occurred Sunday night.
Earlier Sunday, two car bombs exploded minutes apart in a crowded section of Baghdad, killing 26
people and wounding at least 53, the interior ministry said. The explosions occurred outside
government offices and a bank near Nisoor Square in the capital's Yarmouk district.
