As part of its mission to prevent the spread of HIV, the Andhra Pradesh government is considering a plan to provide services for prevention and
treatment of HIV and AIDS at Primary Health Centres (PHCs) in the state.
If such facilities are made available at the grassroot level, people would get a general idea about preventive and treatment aspects of the dreaded disease, R V Chandravadan, Project Director, AIDS Control Society of Andhra Pradesh, said here.
The government has approved the proposal in principle and micro plans are being prepared for its implementation in tribal areas, he said.
Medical staff and local health workers would be given special training in this regard, Chandravadan said.
