A self-styled Nigerian businessman who was allegedly found in possession of forged official documents from the High Courts and Bank of Ghana was on Tuesday put before an Accra Circuit Court.
Amanze Ken Amadi, aka Wilson Kuma Mensah, is facing 28 counts of forgery of official documents and possessing forged documents.
Amadi, whose plea was not taken, was remanded into prison custody to reappear on June 10.
Prosecuting, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) A. Dery said the Chief Executive Officer of Asona Gold Mines was the complainant.
ASP Dery said the complainant had information that some persons were using his company's name to defraud innocent and prospective customers hence commenced his personal investigations.
On Wednesday May 26, this year, a witness in the case went to the complainant's office at Tantra Hills in Accra to see Amadi also known
Solomon Kojo Smith.
Prosecution said the witness showed the complainant Amadi's complimentary card indicating that he (accused) was Mr Wilson Kuma Mensah, the sales Manager of Asona Group Ghana Limited.
Witness also produced a letter purportedly written by accused who claimed to be the Chief Executive Officer of Asona Group Ghana Limited.
Prosecution said the complainant informed the Police and managed to lure Amadi to his office where he was arrested.
When Amadi's briefcase was searched, copies of his complimentary cards and two Ghanaian passports with names Wilson Kuma Mensah and Solomon Kojo Smith were found.
Prosecution said when a pen drive which was found on him was slotted into a computer, documents such as a High Court of Justice Agreement between one Mr Yeboah and Mr Gray Wang and a Bank of Ghana Deposit/Pay in Slip indicting
that 15,500,000 dollars been put into an account at BOG were found.
Other documents found on the pen drive were seven letters purportedly written by the Ghana Immigration Service granting Entry Visa to seven
different nationals.
Prosecution said when Amadi was escorted to his residence at Regimanuel Gray Estate at Kwabenya, a Certificate of Incorporation of Asona Group Ghana Limited and other complimentary cards were found.
