The Presiding Member of the Zabzugu/Tatale District Assembly, Mr Edward Atta Abebe Dawuni has called on ethnic groups in the Zabzugu/Tatale District to live in peace to foster development.
This he said would facilitate the development focus of the assembly for the next decade to achieve
accelerated poverty reduction through the creation of an enabling environment for good governance.
Mr Dawuni made the call when he met with the chiefs and Unit Committee members of Nakpale Borile,
Bidribonbi, Bokonkonlibe, Bikpanjeb, Gbongbon and Kalingi at Nakpale Borile in the Northern Region.
He said people in the district who are mostly Dagombas, Basares, Konkombas and pockets of Hausas,
Kotokoli, Kabres, Ewes and Fulanis have common traits that could promote peaceful co-existence.
Mr Dawuni indicated that Dagombas, Basares and Konkombas have lived in the district for centuries,
hence the need to avoid conflicts or any act that would divide them.
He asked the chiefs and people to volunteer information to the Police about suspicious characters in their communities.
He advised them to invest in the education of their children instead of spending money on marriages, funerals and alcoholic intake.
Mr Dawuni commended the District Chief Executive, Mr Umar Abdul Wahab and the District Security Committee for their hard working in maintaining law and order in the area.
