Members of the Asante Presbytery of Men's Fellowship of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana on Tuesday presented items worth GH�1,000 to inmates of the Kumasi Children's Home.
The items presented as part of activities marking the Fellowship's Silver Jubilee celebration included four bags of rice, three bags of sugar, a carton of milk, some tins of Milo, soap, biscuits and toilet rolls.
Professor Kwasi Kwafo Adarkwa, Vice Chancellor of KNUST and Asante Presbytery President of the Fellowship, presenting the items said it was their widow's mite towards the upkeep of the inmates.
"As men and fathers in our homes, it is our responsibility to assist in caring for these unfortunate inmates of the home who depend on
institutions, organisations and benevolent societies for their upkeep," he added.
Mrs Evelyn Djamah, Officer in-charge of Child Care at the Home, receiving the items thanked the Fellowship for its gesture.
She promised that the items would be well utilised for upkeep of the inmates.
Mr P.K. Amoako, Asante Presbytery Vice President of the Fellowship, told newsmen that activities for the celebration included a health walk, prayer session by the various branches, talk on health, marriage and their contribution to uplift image of the church.
He said to commemorate the celebration, the Fellowship through intensified crusades, had established a branch of the church at Agroyesum in the Asante Presbytery.
The celebration under the theme, "Let us Rise Up and Build: Role of Men in the Presbyterian Church of Ghana", would be climaxed with a thanksgiving service at Bantama Peyer Memorial Church on Sunday, May 30.
