Experts from India and Europe Sunday mooted joint research in nuclear medicine applications, saying it could lead to breakthrough discoveries especially in treatment of cancer.
The experts from the two sides shared platform for the first time as part of the initiative by Indo-European Nuclear Medicine Forum and shared their knowledge with budding
professionals in the field during a three-day educational activity on nuclear medicine applications.
Director of Tata Memorial Centre Dr R A Badwe said such efforts will generate important thought processes and ideas especially in the treatment of cancer and boost research in the field.
Director of Homi Bhabha National Institution and Guest of Honour Dr Ravi B Grover stressed on the need of inter-institutional cooperation within India in different research activities.
B A Krishna, the course director of the workshop and the Head of the Nuclear Department at Hinduja Hospital, said that such interactions will allow Indian post graduate students to know more about evolving new application of nuclear medicine in clinical practice.
Dr John Buscombe, Professor of Nuclear Medicine from Royal Hospital London, commended the effort to bring together specialists from Europe, paediatric nuclear medicine and
isotope therapy.
48 post graduate students from 16 centers across the country participated in the activity.
